Videography Magazine Recognizes Technology with Two Top Awards

Apple Computer, Inc. today announced that QuickTime 3.0, the latest
release of the Company's industry-standard digital media system software
for Windows and Mac OS, has received several product and technology
awards from computer industry press and user groups. Videography magazine
recently granted QuickTime 3.0 two top honors--the first annual Open
Studio Interoperability Award, presented at the SIGGRAPH tradeshow in
August, and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) '97 Editors'
Choice Award.

According to Videography, the Open Studio Interoperability Award is given
to a new product that "most significantly enhances the sharing of digital
media in professional studio environments." The NAB Editors' Choice Award
is for products "that deliver new capabilities, or substantially improve
the state-of-the-art in an existing product category." QuickTime 3.0
received these awards based on its proven interoperability among a
variety of tools running on multiple platforms.

QuickTime 3.0 has also received awards from other publications and user
groups including:

Television Broadcast Magazine--Editors' Pick of Show, NAB 1997

New Media magazine--1997 Hyper Award, System Software

Millimeter magazine--Tommy Award, SIGGRAPH 1997

Berkeley Mac Users' Group--Fall 1997 Choice Product Award

QuickTime 3.0 Supports Multi-Platforms; All Major Video and Audio File
Formats QuickTime 3.0 is the latest release of Apple's widely adopted
software architecture for creating and publishing digital media.
QuickTime 3.0 is significant as it brings the full power of QuickTime
--including the ability to capture, edit, compress, and playback digital
media--for the first time to all major personal computer platforms,
including Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0, System 7.x , Mac OS 7.6, and Mac OS
8.

Additionally, QuickTime 3.0 supports the playback, editing and
integration of QuickTime, MPEG, AVI, OMF, DV, and OpenDML files,
providing one of the highest levels of interoperability with all major
video file formats. QuickTime 3.0 also supports industry standard digital
audio file formats, including Wave, AIFF, Sound Designer II, AU, and MPEG
Layer 2, as well as many still image, animation, and MIDI formats.

QuickTime: The Foundation for Leading Video Software Tools First released
in 1991 for Macintosh, QuickTime is the recognized leader in software
technology for the creation and delivery of digital media. QuickTime is
the foundation of the QuickTime Media Layer, which also includes
QuickTime VR and QuickDraw 3D. Used for professional video editing and
the creation of CD-ROMs, QuickTime is believed to comprise more than half
of the video content found on the Internet.

QuickTime provides foundation technology for building powerful digital
media tools. Award-winning video software products--including Adobe After
Effects, Avid Cinema, Adobe Premiere, and Radius Edit, as well as
Macromedia's soon-to-be released Final Cut--are all built on top of
QuickTime.
